Waterfront Action Field Trip
The
February 18, 2009 tour of the High Street Bridge catwalks and Hanson
Aggregates was attended by about 20 adventurous members of our
community, businesses, and government, and it was a grand experience.
Rick Ruiz of Alameda County Public Works led us through the narrow
corridor at the shoreline and then back out in the light to the catwalk
under the bridge. Under the care and guidance of Rick Ruiz and Dan
Woldesenbet, Director of PWA, the bridge was raised at 9 AM. What a
moment- and we were under it!
Back
out to High Street and then a walk along Tidewater to Hanson Aggregate.
Hard hats were distributed to all and Mike Bishop, marine operations
manager, gave us a guided tour of the site and its waterfront
operations.
