On March 2, 2006, the League of Women Voters of Oakland held a public forum on the proposed Oak to Ninth Avenue Development.  Showing strong interest in the project, more than 100 attendees joined the meeting at City Hall Council Chambers.  KTOP taped the program and has rebroadcast it several times.

The forum adhered to a structured Q & A format and was moderated by League member Richard Winnie.  Panelists presented  divergent viewpoints on the plan for waterfront development currently under consideration by the City of Oakland.

Panelists included:
Claudia Cappio, Director of Planning, City of Oakland
Mike Ghielmetti, Oakland Harbor Partners
Gilda Gonzalez, Spanish Speaking Unity Council
Jenny Lin, Asian Pacific Environmental Network
Andy Nelsen, Urban Strategies
John Sutter, Open Space Advocate
Naomi Schiff, President of Oakland Heritage Alliance
Sandy Threlfall, Executive Director of Waterfront Action
